Submission Rules (Issue 1)

Publisher open for submissions

  • The opening date for submissions is 16th of October.
  • Closing date is midnight 15th November. No further entries will be received after this time.
  • Entry is open to both short stories and poetry.
  • Poetry can be any style but must reflect the theme of Twisted Christmas
  • No more than one page should be submitted. Any submissions with more than one page will be automatically declined.
  • All copyright belongs to the author. By submitting any material to this competition you are giving KINDRED REPUBLIC rights to publish the material, if your entry is selected. KINDRED REPUBLIC retains no future rights should you wish to submit your material to other publications. You keep control of your material.
  • By submitting material to KINDRED REPUBLIC you declare that the material is your own, or that you have permission from the author to submit the material. Any material submitted without permission will not be published. If it has already been published the publication will be edited to remove your entry. Should the original author contact KINDRED REPUBLIC about lack of authority to submit, you will be contacted by either the author or KINDRED REPUBLIC. Should any law enforcement seek information about copyrights infringement, KINDRED REPUBLIC WILL comply by supplying your contact details and any relevant information they require.
  • The only acceptable format types are doc, docx and pdf.
  • Font should be Times New Roman, size 12 or 14
  • Submissions can be sent with appropriate art but will be solely judged on the story or poem. Kindred Republic reserves the right to remove the artwork if it is not appropriate for this publication.
  • At the top of the page being submitted, only the following should be included:
    • Title of submission
    • Authors Name
  • You must be 16+ to enter this competition. No entries will be accepted by anyone under 16.
  • No sexualised content will be accepted. Any submissions containing sexualised material will be automatically declined.
  • Kindred Republic values voices from diverse backgrounds.
  • Simultaneous submissions are welcomed. Please create a new entry for each submission.
  • Kindred Republic is not responsible for any taxes on prize money. The winners are responsible for declaring their winnings according to the tax laws of their country.
  • You must have a PayPal account to receive any money that is awarded. Kindred Republic is not responsible for any fees charged by PayPal during the transfer of prize money OR the withdrawal of money from your account.
  • You may submit work that has been submitted to other contests or publishers, however it must not have won any prior awards or have been published before. The only exception to this, is where you have your work displayed on your own website. If this is the case, please provide a link to your website in the comments section of the submission form.
  • All submissions must be made in English, be checked for spelling and grammar mistakes.
  • Your privacy is assured. Your details will be stored in a secure environment, and never given out to anyone, unless required to do so by law.
  • The first prize is $50 (USD). The winning entry will be judged on how well it adheres to the theme, memorable characters and a great storyline. The winner will be the first work published in the new Kindred Republic online publication. You will be asked to submit a short bio, and if you chose, a picture. The winner will also have their work displayed on the Kindred Republic website
  • 11 more entries will be published in the Kindred Republic online publication.
  • All entries must be submitted by filling out the submission form. Any entries emailed will be deleted.
  • A submission can be withdrawn at any time prior to the close of the competition
  • Once the story has been received and registered, No changes can be made to the submitted story once submitted.
  • The decision of the judges is final and legally binding, and no correspondence shall be entered into regarding the awards
